make progress

If you’re unhappy or overweight, what are you getting out of remaining where you are? Nothing? The ultimate goal for most people is happiness and health so they can live their life to its fullest. Yet we all become so content in our set ways that few of us are willing to make the changes necessary to create what we wish for ourselves. We plod along in blind acceptance with brick walls built up around us. If you really want change for yourself, you have two choices. Make progress, or make excuses.
People are scared of change. Some will walk through their whole life and never do an iota of introspection. They will never truly question why their life is not going the way they want or question what they can do to improve their situation.
If you want to be fitter, if you want a healthier body, there is no solution other than making smarter food choices and becoming active. Change, DOES require change. It DOES require, stepping out of your comfort zone.
The reward is seeing your body alter physically as it becomes healthier, noticing your fitness climb, feeling really alive. Being able to say YES, to any opportunities that come your way. We all have great days and not quite so great days. Losing weight is about making a decision that you want better for yourself, then doing everything you can to achieve the end goal despite those ups and downs. Its about making a commitment to yourself, and sticking to it.
Not everyone is ready to commit at the same time. And that’s okay! I spent a long, long, long time myself, obese. Bordering on morbidly obese and incredibly unhappy, yet perfectly content with my excuses, blaming it on everyone else. It took incredible self-examination to recognise I was heading to an early grave, then acknowledge to myself that I was important enough to start creating a different life that didn’t include the comfort of the couch, the tv and an endless stream of junk food. I didn’t know where that change was going to take me but I’m now aware that I wish I had believed in myself and started sooner. It was a slow, progressive path towards a more healthy life - committing, learning, growing, winning, failing. Now, eating for optimal nutrition has become a familiar and automatic action in my life. Exercising, an important and vital part of my day, that I schedule in as priority. I wouldn’t even consider it any other way anymore. A huge turnaround.

Losing weight comes down to, making a pro active choice for yourself - that you deserve to live as a healthy, energetic person, getting out into the world and enjoying everything on offer - not as a fat, sick, inactive, tired one, catatonic, creating a permanent indent on the couch at home. The bottom line is that if you REALLY want to transform you will, you will move mountains to make it happen. Time to get real - you either want it or you don’t! It’s up to you to make that decision. At the beginning of your definitive determination you never realise the road your life will take as the changes occur, as they evolve. Endless opportunities become apparent.

As a trainer, helping people work towards, and reach their goals when they too are ready to commit to a better, healthier life is one of the most rewarding things I now get to be a part of. It’s as exciting and fulfilling as my own journey. My goal is to inspire, motivate, educate and help others enjoy the benefits of being healthy and fit. To understand that individual health is so important - it isn’t about perfection, or the physical being, it isn’t about how many ‘kgs’ you weigh ... it’s about being the best version of *you* you can be. Life is so much better when you arent carrying around excessive weight, when you’re eating great, nutritious food and, when you’re a participant!

So what are you going to do today to start creating a difference in your world? Make a choice to exercise and eat cleanly! Give it a go - you CAN do it.

Remember, life is a continuum for us all, a divine chaos - keep moving forward in a positive way, embrace everything and enjoy the ride. Ann.
