be an active participant

If you’re unhappy or overweight, what are you getting out of remaining where you are? Nothing? The ultimate goal for most people is happiness and great health so they can live their life to its fullest. Yet we all become so content in our set ways that few of us are willing to make the changes necessary to create what we wish for ourselves. We plod along in blind acceptance with brick walls built up around us. If you really want change for yourself, you have two choices. Make progress, or make excuses.

People are scared of change. Some will walk through their whole life and never do an iota of introspection. They will never truly question why their life is not going the way they want or question what they can do to improve their situation. If you want to be fitter, if you want a healthier body, there is no solution other than making smarter food choices and becoming active. Change, DOES require change. It does require, stepping out of your comfort zone.

The reward is seeing your body alter physically as it becomes healthier, noticing your fitness climb, feeling really alive. Being able to say YES, to any opportunities that come your way without concern over whether you are actually physically or mentally capable.

Losing weight is about making a decision that you want better for yourself, then doing everything you can to achieve the end goal. It’s about making a commitment to yourself, and sticking to it, despite ups and downs.

Not everyone is ready to commit at the same time. And that’s okay! I spent a long, long, long time myself obese, bordering on morbidly obese and incredibly unhappy, yet perfectly content with my excuses. It took incredible self-examination to recognise I was heading to an early grave, then acknowledge to myself that I was important enough to start creating a different life that didn’t include the comfort of the couch, the tv and an endless stream of junk food. I didn’t know where that change was going to take me but I’m now aware that I wish I had believed in myself and started sooner.
It was a slow, progressive path towards a more healthy life - committing, learning, growing, winning, failing. Persistent. Until eating for optimal nutrition became a familiar and automatic action. Exercising, became an important and vital part of my day, that I scheduled in as priority. I wouldn’t even consider it any other way anymore. A huge turnaround.

Losing weight comes down to making a pro active choice for yourself - that you deserve to live as a healthy, energetic person, getting out into the world and enjoying everything on offer - not as a fat, sick, inactive, tired one, catatonic, creating a permanent indent on the couch at home.
If you REALLY want to transform you will - you’ll move mountains to make it happen. You either want it or you don’t! Only you can make that decision. At the beginning of your definitive choice you never realise the road your life will take as changes occur, as they evolve. Endless opportunities become apparent.

So what are you going to do today to start creating a difference in your world? Start by making a preference to exercise and eat cleanly! Give it a go - you CAN do it. If you don’t start, you’ll never succeed. If you want to accomplish your goals, you’re going to have to put aside any preconceived notions for why you can’t accomplish them. Can’t needs to be erased from your vocabulary.
Successful weight loss comes from being in control. During your journey, your body is going to throw everything it has at you in an effort to maintain the status quo. Physical and mental challenges are inevitable.

Bear in mind though that you own your thoughts. You are what you think. There is a powerful connection between the words you use, the actions you take, and the results you get. Remain positive. Practice self-control and success will follow.

Life really is so much better when you aren’t carrying around excessive weight, when you’re eating great, nutritious food and, when you’re an active participant!

Remember, life is a continuum for us all, a divine chaos - keep moving forward in a positive way, embrace everything and enjoy the ride. Ann.
