So you want to lose weight?

Before hitting on the right solution for weight loss I was easy prey for every diet pill and magic tonic that came my way. Well, I actually hunted THEM, out. Trying every new product that became available always hoping for that ‘magic cure’. I only always wanted the quick fix. Don’t we all. Unfortunately. There are none. I went through years of pills and potions, promises and lies... taking off 20kgs, being elated, then putting on 25. Taking off 30 kgs, putting on 40.... ad infinitum. Does that quick fix process work? Well, I think most of us who battle with weight issues, can be testament to a similar story of yo yo dieting. Me? With what I thought was the solution, ended up finding myself instead, sitting at 120 kilograms. The brink of being morbidly obese.
Since mid 2005 I have lost and kept off 50kg. No magic. Just a simple, basic, lifestyle formula - changing my eating and exercise habits in the healthiest way possible. It was a long process after those many years of hope, manyatime nearly giving up when the results werent coming quick enough for me. I’m so glad I stuck with them. Changes don’t always come through in the physical some weeks, but when we are looking after our complete wellbeing we are doing amazing things inside our bodies also!
People can take years to put on extra kilos and acknowledge they actually ARE, overweight. So its concerning then as humans we want to use the shortest amount of time in an attempt to eliminate that excess.
We either fall for the mistake of such a large reduction in energy intake (eg 1,000 calories a day or less!) that it can compromise our  health plus leave us in a constant state of hunger and lethargy. Or. We turn to ... fat burners? Appetite suppressants? Surgery? Unfortunately there will always be those that fall for the gimmick of that quick fix. Look in chemists, even our supermarkets, and there is a plethora of promise and lies in pills and
elixirs. An endless supply of quick fixes - and new ones, even illegal ones, entering our shelves every day. None of them are a magical fat loss panacea.
Will you lose weight? Short term. Perhaps for some, that may happen. Every drug works differently for everyone. The myriad of possible side effects though are horrendous. Irregular/elevated heart rate causing palpitations. Speeding up of bodily functions. Erratic breathing. Blood pressure increase. Anxiety. Impaired thinking. Tension. Irritability. Nausea. Stomach cramps. Dry mouth, constant thirst. Insomnia. Increased sweating. Headaches. Radical mood swings. Depression. Malnutrition. You think these symptoms are good? Healthy? Why would we willingly place these issues upon ourselves? I don’t think I need to mention what other drug these side effects mirror!! (amphetimines anyone!?)
Then atop of that, the end result when coming off whatever magic process we are indulging in? Weight GAIN! That continuing tale of yo yo dieting. The whole approach just isn’t sustainable. The fat returns and the metabolic consequences are severe. What a constant self sabotage. When we face a weight battle we are all vulnerable to the allure of quick and easy. But what’s more successful than any of that?
Learn to eat food in the right way - to naturally satisfy your appetite, remove excess fat and boost your overall health. There is only ONE way to do that successfully if you want it off with a routine that can be maintained for the rest of your life. Pills? Potions? Promises? May give short term results, but once you stop taking it/them and return to a ‘normality’, the end result is that up-hill battle with the kgs that get tougher to shift with each passing year. I know these aren’t words those after that rapid solution want to hear. But please hear them.
Don’t allow yourself to be the one that falls for the latest gimmicky
fad. Refuse to give your money to the greedy corporations in the weight loss industry that market these products, feeding on
peoples vulnerabilities.
There is nothing more exciting than witnessing someone transform in a positive and healthy way. It takes commitment and motivation - but the payoff is totally worth the time put in.
Teach yourself good habits. Respect your body and its purity. Don’t feed it synthetic drugs. Make your successful weight loss be for the long term. Deliberate. Consistent. And make your complete overall health your ideal goal, not just your physical shell.
Great nutrition. Plus. Consistent exercise. Now what a REAL, magical combination that is! That simple! It’s the most sustainable way to change your lifestyle and have amazing long term results. For life.
Cheers, to your healthy body! Ann
