1 Million Kilogram Challenge.
The Whitsundays is on its way to creating a healthier community and the proof is in the high number of locals signing up in this year's 1 Million Kilogram Challenge.

The challenge involves teams from all around Australia pledging to lose more than a million kilograms collectively, within 10 weeks.

Now in week five, Whitsunday Winners team creator and personal trainer Ann Parrott said more than 30 locals have joined up to the challenge, making them one of the biggest teams in Australia.

"I wanted to call the team Whitsunday winners, because we that's what we are - winners," Ms Parrott said, adding nutrition and exercise are both paramount to the challenge.
"People can still join up. This is just a start! We are going to go beyond the challenge to create lifetime habits."

Two Whitsunday Winners participants, Margaret Cox and Kelli Reid are both achieving great results following the program and are continuing to stay on a positive path.
Ms Parrott said at the end of the day, if people are taking care of their health in a positive way, that is the most important thing to her.

"Good on you all for participating. I hope you are on track and remember, your overall wellbeing is what's important.

"We're on the journey towards becoming a fitter and healthier version of ourselves - for life!"
Ms Parrott said between the local participants, the team has the potential to lose 200 kilograms in the 10 weeks.

The 1 Million Kilogram Challenge is a free initiative which encourages Australia to become a healthier nation.
